Grade 304 plates are flat-surfaced plain plates of stainless steel alloy containing a high amount of nickel and chromium contents. These plates contain a maximum of 18 percent chromium and a maximum of 8 percent of nickel in their overall chemical composition. These SS 304 plates are nonmagnetic in annealed state and have exceptional mechanical properties.
These plates are also highly resistant to pitting corrosion, various organic and inorganic acids, and corrosion at several cryogenic temperatures. Stainless steel 304 plate has a good resilience to oxidation in intermittent service up to 870°C. These plates cannot be hardened by heat treatment but have good machinability.

Stainless steel 304 plates containing high chromium content possess numerous applications due to their high immunity against crevice corrosion, oxidizing environments, and stress corrosion cracking above 60°C. Some of the key features of these plates are chemical stability, good tensile strength and yield strength, extraordinary toughness and impact strength, weld-ability, formability, & superb ductility.
